Behind every bank run there is a business going on. The government, far from trying to avoid it, encourages financial speculation (called “timba financiera” in Argentina) driving this economic model. There are some “clever” people in our country who, with the rocketing dollar price, earn fortunes and take them abroad.
“Financial bicycle”, “timba”, bank runs, speculations: a neoliberal model that the Government expands and promotes.
Meanwhile, the dollar strengthening has an impact on the economy, causing an increase in the prices of food, fuel, etc.
Financial and dollar speculation are not for free. There are millions of marginalized workers who are suffering from inflation and devaluation, in an economic model that does not take them into account at all.
On top of that, Macri’s government wants to limit collective bargaining, by setting a maximum salary increase of 15%, to offer misery to teachers, to suppress social and union protests. It is a government that supports the current rate hike, which is for the benefit of multinational companies and to the detriment of the people.
The only way to stop the government and its economic policy of poverty and hunger for millions is with the workers’ Unity of Action. There is no other way to stop neoliberalism if it is not with greater unity and strengthening union and social organizations. We have to discuss, debate and grow in our workplaces. We have to organize better in each place because the fight is big, like neoliberalism is.
As we have been claiming, as part of the CTA Autónoma, the unity in the action of all sectors is essential to stop the rate hike and to stop the austerity policies of a neoliberal predatory model which is coming for everything.
