Argentine minister of Energy and Mining, Juan Jose Aranguren, announced today gas tariffs will go up between 30 or 40 percent.
Argentineans, already hit by hikes in services like water, power and others, will now learn this Friday the price increase, first of the year, but not the last.
The gas supply price hike will begin as of Saturday April 1st, and the increase will be of 40 percent.
José Rigane, Secretary General of Luz y Fuerza de Mar del Plata and of the Federation of Energy Workers of Argentina, said Friday in a press conference that “there’s an enormous part of the Argentine people that cannot access electricity, gas or water services”.

Last October, Argentineans also suffered a similar measure but with higher increases that soared between 300 and 400 percent for residential consumers and up to 500 percent for enterprises.
Besides the hike in prices of basic services, or “tarifazos” as they were baptized here, in 2017 there have already been increases in electricity, fuel, the tolls and prepaid medicine (medical private services).
